Supported by a rich knowledge of sophisticated and high performance network development solutions, Huawei-3Com was recently appointed by the Wuhan Railway Board for the deployment of an organization-wide office network upgrade project.
Wuhan Railway Board (WRB) is an important railway board of China and is also a major national railway hub. With demand for various business applications growing rapidly plus an increasing number of subsidiary network units, the original network facilities were clearly inadequate, over-burdened and not scalable to meet future demand. Given these factors, the project focused on developing the organization-wide office network for the WRB, involving the connection of service sections, railway stations, supply sections and subsidiary units to create an advanced and state-of-the-art enterprise-wide network.
For this large project, all products and solutions for the network upgrade came from Huawei-3Com's extensive portfolio. Two NE08E core routers were installed giving linkage with various rail service sections, depots and subsidiary units to ensure data transmission security and reliability. The access layer uses a AR28-30 multi-services router to connect to the center through a private network, and also connects to other units to form a loop network with the headquarters core router. Under this arrangement, if any connection fails, full redundancy is provided through an equivalent router. In addition, all network facilities will be upgraded, strengthening the data processing capacity of the WRB and its branches while at the same time improving network security, reliability and efficiency.
As a supplier of a broad enterprise network solutions portfolio, Huawei-3Com has offered its services to a number of railway boards including Guizhou, Lanzhou, Guangzhou, Shanghai and the Kunming Railway Public Security Department. In the first half of 2005, during the Rail Ministry's initiative for dissolving all sub-bureaus across China, Huawei-3Com completely replaced the IT systems for the Shenyang Railway Board, Chengdu Railway Board and Guangdong Railway Group. Having constructed numerous networks for different railway boards, Huawei-3Com has since accumulated a wealth of experience in this area and is constantly researching and developing new ways to provide the transport industry with custom-made solutions that are better geared for their sector.
