Huawei-3Com is recently undertaking the network project to help Hainan Provincial Library provide the public advanced digitalized services. The Hainan Provincial Library is expected to be opened at the end of 2005.

The library includes the main building and 2 smaller buildings with a total area of 25,000 square meters. The network is connected to LAN and Internet for readers to conveniently search information from 1,000 network nodes. The library network is of high speed, security, reliability and easy to manage, enabling unified data transmission and multi-media services, storage of vast information on library stock, supporting search engines and authority management. The readers can enjoy a high speed searching and enquiry mechanism through the network.

To meet the demand for high performance, security and easy management, the network deploys Huawei-3Com's Quidway® S8508 10GE core multi-services routing switches, S3050C 1G intelligent switches, AR46 Intelligent core routers and WA1003 wireless Access Points. The new network realizes high speed Gigabit to core layer and 100 M to desktop, the modular design of devices offer room for easy expansion for the network to upgrade seamlessly as it grows. It also supports AAA function and VLAN, which enable flexible management.

The Hainan Library network will allow internal data exchange and public sharing with other library network branches under a unified platform. The network will provide customized information, video on demand, distance learning, cultural information resources sharing and other public services.
