| China Meteorological Administration (CMA) plays an important role in weather forecast, climate prediction, natural disaster monitoring, environment monitoring and various scientific research projects. CMA's existing satellite network with limited bandwidth needed to be overhauled.
Huawei-3Com is constructing next-generation, high-speed network platform that will enable CMA to manage diversified applications and data for weather and climate monitoring and forecast. Beijing is the focal point of the star topology networking covering 31 provincial units. Optical access with dual routes have been designed for central and provincial units and a satellite network system is used as mutual backup to enhance overall redundancy and reliability.
The new broadband network will support the collection of numerical data, radar data, climatologically and meteorological data , output of various satellite products, radar products, data forecast, as well as multi-media applications including video-conference and automatic office operation.
