Students and teachers at Hong Kong's Shatin Government Primary School can now access the internet wirelessly using their laptops or handhelds from anywhere in the school grounds. The school has deployed Huawei-3Com's Aolynk WAP500ag to build a stable and flexible wireless network throughout the campus.
Previously teachers and students could only access the internet via four desktop computers. However, as the school moved towards a more interactive and enriched curriculum, it required a fast, stable and wireless network to meet the needs of teaching staff and students for increased internet access.
Huawei-3Com provided Aolynk WAP500ag AP, which compiles 802.11a, 802.11b and 802.11g standards. With only 25 access points, a full wireless coverage in the campus is achieved at an affordable cost. With the absence of switch and fixed network, set up cost is greatly reduced as no major construction work is needed.
The new network allows teachers to research materials online using laptop computers or handhelds and students can access the internet for more interactive learning from anywhere on campus. Huawei-3Com is experienced in building networking solutions for the education sector that ensure an effective learning environment.
