Huawei-3Com Achieves Solid Performance in its First Year of Operation

January 3, 2005, Hangzhou¡XHuawei-3Com Co., Ltd, a leading enterprise networking company, has achieved solid performance in the past year 2004. After starting its official operations in November of 2003, in its first year of operation, Huawei-3Com's revenue has reached US$400 million and employees grown from 1,200 to 2,500. The company has made considerable breakthroughs both domestically and internationally. According to an independent research, Huawei-3Com's overall domestic market share has reached 33%, ranking the company No.2 in the market and narrowing gap to the leading position.

"In the past year, the world market has experienced vigorous competition in the data communication industry. However with our strategies, powerful execution and increased investment, our brand recognition and influence in the networking industry have risen significantly. We are very satisfied with the performance in the past year and looking forward to 2005", commented Mr. Zheng Shusheng, Chief Operating Officer of Huawei-3Com.

Rose Chen, President of International Marketing & Sales at Huawei-3Com, said,"Huawei-3Com achieved outstanding results from overseas markets in the past year. Through strengthening international marketing efforts, finer segmentation of regional markets and deepening the cooperation with strategic partners, sales from overseas market reached 80 million USD in 2004, representing 20% of the total sales. Our products, especially high-end switches are widely used in a broad range of applications in more than 50 countries and regions, including the US, Europe and other developed countries".

In the past year, Huawei-3Com increased its R&D investment and, grew the number of highly skilled engineers staff from 700 to 1,500 in order to expand the company's product portfolio. The high-end flagship product¡X10 Gigabits LAN Switch S8500, was successfully released worldwide and not only solidified the company's leadership in the networking industry, but also boosted the company's competitiveness as an end-to-end IP solutions provider. The company now has a full product portfolio including Ethernet switches and routers that are tailor-made to different markets and different strategic partners. In addition to switches and routers, the company also developed new product lines including security, voice and SOHO products, enabling the company to become an end-to-end IP solutions provider.

"Looking forward to 2005, the company will continuously increase its investment and rapid development. We will stabilize and enhance our status in domestic market while strengthening and accelerating our global sales network and business support platform for the international market" said Mr. Zheng Shusheng.

By end of 2005, Huawei-3Com is expected to have more than 3,500 staff and sales revenue is forecasted to reach US$730 million, of which more than one-third is expected from international markets.
